WESTBROOK - Gov. Paul LePage is making good on his campaign pledge to host town hall meetings throughout the state, and he is beginning in the Democratic stronghold of Westbrook.

LePage, a Republican, is bringing his so-called "Capitol for a Day" program to the greater Portland area on Friday, according to Adrienne Bennett, his press secretary.

LePage believes there are "solutions that can't be found behind a desk in Augusta," and is coming out to hear from Maine residents, she said.

He will be at the Performing Arts Center at Westbrook Middle School on Stroudwater Street from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday for a town hall-style meeting. The public is invited to attend to ask questions of LePage. Members of his cabinet are expected to attend, as well, Bennett said.

This is the first of many expected town hall meetings, Bennett said, noting LePage intends to hold them in each of Maine's 16 counties.

Welcome to the discussion.
