BUXTON – Two Buxton incumbents, Dianne Senechal and Clifford Emery, are among a number of candidates who took out nomination papers for three-year terms on the Board of Selectmen in an interesting race taking shape.

Town Clerk John Myers has reported that those who took out papers so far for the two seats are former selectman Peter E.W. Burns, Ronald E. Usher, David W. Pinkham, Cynthia Hazelton and John W. Vedral, in addition to Senechal and Emery.

Senechal is chairwoman of the board and Emery is vice chairman.

Usher is a former longtime state senator and representative from Westbrook; Hazelton is director of Gorham Recreation Department and a former School Administrative District 6 director; and Pinkham is the former director of Buxton Public Works Department, who left last spring in an uproar over disposal of department junk. Vedral is editor of BuxtonNews.com

Nomination papers must be filed by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 29, in Myers’ office. Those who had already filed by Tuesday morning were Burns, Emery and Usher.

The secret ballot election will be on Tuesday, June 11, in Buxton Town Hall. For more information, call Myers at 929-6171.
