Saco church hosts annual Sept. 11 remembrance concert

SACO - The Alumni Band of Biddeford-Saco and the Italian Heritage Center Concert Band are joining forces once again for their annual Sept. 11 Remembrance Concert, which will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6, at the First Parish Congregational Church in Saco.

Deertrees Theatre toasts Rudy Vallee’s birthday

Deertrees Theatre in Harrison can boast many connections to the “greats" of yesteryear and this week will acknowledge the birthday of Rudy Vallee, born July 28, 1901. He credited the theatre as being one of his favorite places to sing. So the theater will celebrate this week by staging all three of the plays in the Deertrees New Repertory Company’s repertoire.

Silhouette artist offering her gifts at Back to the Past in Harrison

Scribner’s Mill in Harrison will host a special event as part of its annual celebration: Traditional, freehand-cut silhouettes. Ruth Monsell of Artful Heirlooms, one of just a few professional silhouette artists in New England, will be available to cut portraits at the mill’s Back to the Past celebration, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 2 and 3.
