OLD ORCHARD BEACH – A 25-year-old Old Orchard Beach man has been indicted by a York County grand jury in the murder of Charles Raybine on March 26.
Bub “Peter” Nguany was indicted on June 6 one count of intentional or knowing murder in the shooting death of Raybine, 47. According to Maine State Police, Raybine was shot multiple times while sitting in his car outside the Parish Place apartment complex.
At the time of the murder, police would not say much about what Raybine was doing outside the apartments, which were about a mile from his Rathier Street residence, after midnight on March 26.
However, Raybine did have a criminal record, including charges for drug trafficking, assault and theft.
If found guilty of the class A crime of murder, Nguany could face up to 30 years in prison, plus a $50,000 fine.
In addition to being indicted in the murder of Raybine, Nguany was indicted on two class C felonies – possession of a firearm by a felon and operating after license revocation. Those charges stem from an arrest made by the Old Orchard Beach Police Department on March 24.
Each class C crime is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
The next step in the process is for Nguany to be arraigned in York County Superior Court in Alfred.
