SANFORD - Memories, music and camaraderie will be the focus of the “All-Time Reunion” on Sunday, April 6, at the Sanford Unitarian Universalist Church on Lebanon Street.

Current and former members and friends of the church are warming up their singing voices and looking for old snapshots to share at the event, where people will gather from Acton, Springvale, Lebanon, North Berwick, Sanford, Alfred, Shapleigh, Waterboro, Newfield, Wells, Kennebunk, Kittery, Lyman, Limerick, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

“Everyone is welcome to attend,” said the Rev. Sue Gabrielson, who is in her 11th year with the church. “This is an opportunity for people to comfortably come back together. There is no agenda. It’s a celebration. We’re very excited.”

The Sanford church had its beginnings in 1909, originally meeting at the Sanford Town Hall. In 1918 the church, which now has 100 members, was built at the corner of Lebanon and Main streets.

The reunion event will begin with a service at 10:30 a.m. featuring the “Then and Again” choir led by Deb (Lander) Folsom and accompanied by pianist Ruth Leipold. All former and current choir members, as well as others who enjoy singing, are invited to join with the choir. A special rehearsal of the choir will be held on April 6 at 9 a.m.

The service and social hour to follow will feature a multimedia presentation that looks back at 50 years. There will also be old photo albums to browse. Music will be performed by David Larrabee and Melody Wood. Refreshments will also be served during the social hour.

“I know how much the church has meant to people throughout the years,” said David Agan, a member of the church for 23 years. “(The reunion) is a chance to see people you may not have seen in a while. Connecting people back together to reminisce and reconnect, it means a lot.”
