Star Party, hosted by the Astronomical Society of Northern New England, Friday, April 24 (Saturday, April 25 if cloudy) , from 8-10 p.m., at the Starfield Observatory, located on Route 35 two miles south of the junction of routes 35 and 111, Kennebunk. (ASNNE) is throwing a "Star Party." Once a month, close to the dark of the moon, the big mounted telescopes at the observatory are made available to the public, free of charge (though donations are appreciated). Growing up in Limerick 1930-1959, a panel discussion featuring eight Limerick residents, Saturday, April 25, 7 p.m., at the Town Hall. The panel will talk about what life was life, including experiences such as attending school on Washington Street, the Great Depression, the closing of the mill, the closing of the bank and entry into World War II. Presenter is Jane Lougee Bryant. Refreshments will be served.
The MS Maine Walk 2009, is Saturday, April 25, rain or shine, starting at the Kennebunkport Consolidated School at 9 a.m. Registration begins at 8 a.m. in the gym. The walk encompasses a 5-mile course through the Kennebunk/Kennebunkport area with a shorter mile route available. History and accomplishments of the Waterborough Historical Society, is the topic of the first program of the season, Thursday, May 7, 7 p.m. at the Carle's Corner Museum next to the Town Hall in Waterboro Center. To observe the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Society President Jim Carll will talk about the large acquisitions, the museum, the Johnson Saw Mill, the Taylor/Frey/Leavitt House and the Deering School House. Volunteers are asked to "help keep Alfred beautiful" by registering to clean up roadsides in town during the annual Town Wide Clean Up Day Saturday, May 9.
